For me, I switch pretty recently to Fedora Linux, because of all crashes and shitty updates that Microsoft did to their stuff. Switching to Linux was the best choice I could have made, since the switch I only got 1 small issue which was fixed after updating my packages. What made you do the switch?

I started with Linux because of one reason.
I was fed up with the windows home menu.
Daily I got annoyed at how slow it was, that it wasn't ordered at all and how just outright awful it is and was.
I had never used Linux, and hotheaded I installed the arch ISO and burned it on an USB.
Booted, managed to reformat my desk, and there I sat. Not even knowing vim, nano, how to use vs, rm, mkdir etc. No windows. Non-working Linux install.
This was before I knew about archinstall, and I do not know if it existed.
I did manage, and I learnt a lot. This was 2?3? Years ago I think, forgot. Also, had heard of i3 from reddit I think, so I started in taht, and only a month later did I learn about KDE.
I was playing computer games and my laptop was rather poor. Like, I had kinda 30fps in CS:GO. I had also heard that linux offered better performance than windows, so I switched to it.
Then I started being interested in programming more, though, and now I rarely play any games. But initially it was right about them.
I swapped over because the laptop I had at the time was not loading basic browser games, so my dad gave me some Ubuntu cds and I installed it, and it was basically a debloated operating system.
Once I realized you could “sudo apt-get install name-of-program” without having to click 30 “no” checkboxes on CCleaner and whatnot, I was sold.
We're at the end of '99, I'm 15. I made a new friend a few days prior, the cousin of one of my best friends. We get to his house, we start talking tech, he keeps saying Microsoft is evil and that we all need to switch and then shows me his computer running Mandrake Linux. I go home that evening with a burned copy of the beta of the next release, install it, and fell in love instantly.
It was free and open source was so cool.
Over the years I kept Windows around either solo for some months or dual-booting because I was always gaming. Now Linux is all I have and I don't think I'll ever reinstall Windows.
i sort of switched for the same reason everyone else did, i was sick of windows, i started with mint and quickly went into more harder distros like arch, i then went to void, then nix, and after all of that, i sort of backtracked and went back to arch which is now what i use.
I was into computers but not so much that I could call it a enthusiast hobby. I really enjoy just tinkering with computers until it gives me a different result. Windows was too bland, in the sense that its a good OS to get work done but there isn't much tinkering possible because of everything being abstracted and the source code being closed. Linux was really exciting and made computers fun, Its not the best, but its fun.
i first installed linux when i was around 13 years old. funnily enough, the reason for installing it was to "be better at programming". i read somewhere that all the cool developers are using linux, so, if i used linux i would surely become a cool developer
later, when i actually started trying to write C code, i started using linux more seriously, since i was extremely upset with both MinGW and MSVC
around the same time i got interested in how computers actually work, and i learnt the basics of system administration with linux. so, interestingly, i actually never understood system administration in windows - since i stopped using windows relatively early
and only then i got introduced to FOSS and the advantages of free software
so, essentially, i went through it kinda backwards
I switched to linux because simply windows was using too much resources
